With over several years of GM 1.5T tuning experience, BNR is the proven choice for tuning your GM 1.5T powered Vanderhall. The BNR high performance powertrain re-calibration for the 2020 Vanderhall Carmel delivers class leading power and an unmatched driving experience. The engine and transmission have both been completely re-calibrated from the ground up. Power feels linear and immediately responsive. The engine now delivers up to 23PSI of boost pressure from the turbocharger, working with completely redesigned timing and fueling tables, and unleashing over 60HP and 90TQ over the stock tune. The transmission no longer hunts for gears, or goes into too high of a gear at part throttle- while at the same time executing wide open throttle shifts 300% faster, firmer, and at the right RPM so the vehicle never falls out of the powerband. Premium fuel (91 octane or higher) is required for this tune. Free unlimited retunes for ALL products purchased through BNR website and BNR brand products purchased through dealers, as well as all minor bolt ons (intakes, etc.), regardless of brand. Fuel injectors, different fuel types, flex fuel kits, and larger stock frame turbochargers will require a $60 retune fee. Aftermarket forced induction tuning (non stock frame, i.e. installing a turbonetics turbo onto your Cruze), or engine swaps can be retuned for a full tune repurchase. BNR reserves the right to assess or waive retune fees at our discretion. RETUNE

An EFILive Autocal is REQUIRED to load the tune to the vehicle. If you need a new one, select that option. If you bought one used or already have an EFILive Autocal, choose that option.

Switching tunes is easy, and returning to the stock Vanderhall tunes can be done in mere minutes if desired.

The Ghost Cam tune enables your vehicle to sound like it has a larger camshaft, or give it a choppy/lope idle. It is for sound only, and does not affect performance in any way, good or bad. As soon as you start moving the ghost cam will disable until you come to a stop again.

The Crackle/Burble tune is setup to be active during free revs and decels, and only will activate when you are in the set RPM range, which is 3000+rpm. This is to avoid constant initiation when just normal driving on the highway like other tunes. This RPM allows you to cruise and drive without any drivability issues and allows you to be "stealth" when you need.

Simply select a gear and drive beyond the rpm range (3000rpm) and let off the throttle while still in gear and allow the sweet songs of our people to play. You will also be able to activate it on free revs in neutral during the same RPM range.

*Auto customers - You will be able to use the paddles to downshift into this RPM range to activate. It is also active in Park when free revving.

The results will vary based on your exhaust setup. You must have a catback exhaust at minimum to hear them. Again, the results are going to be based on how loud your exhaust is now. We cannot increase the volume of your exhaust through tuning.

The Autocal can be rented for up to 60 days from the date of purchase. Return shipping is not covered. Once the Autocal is shipped back to us the refund can take up to 2 weeks to be issued as we will need to verify it is returned in working order. If we receive the Autocal back in non working/damaged condition we reserve the right to deny the refund.

Tuning is a service, not a product, and is non-refundable once tuning has begun. Subject to discretion of BNR Staff.

2020 Carmel Tune

Great tune, you can feel it pull from 2200 to 6300 rpm. Turbo lag is not noticeable at all now. Transmission shifting is much better. You are not in 6th gear at 30 mph. Well worth the money.

Night and day

This tune wakes up the monster inside that little 1.5L. My carmel went from fast to O-M-G. Legitimately scared me the first time I really nailed the throttle after the tune was loaded. Worth every penny. It also makes the automatic trans a lot more bearable. It no longer tries to shift to 6th gear when you're doing 30mph.

Turns the Carmel into a jet... Hold on to the steering wheel tight when the pedal goes to the metal... Transmission shifts are sharp and at better rpms...

This is what a Vanderhall should be from the factory. The tune is simply amazing. It really wakes the Vanderhall up. The torque is unreal, HP upgrade is nice, running 25 deg. cooler is a big plus. Shift points are a big improvement over stock. Can't wait for the crackle tune for the1.5L!!! look forward for to more upgrades and preformance parts for the 1.5L.

I read these reviews before I actually got my '23 Carmel and hoped Vanderhall had revised the factory tune. That was a no, up through the 8/17/22 build date of my car. Surprised at this because a) The self-fixturing chassis, thermoformed panels, FWD, narrow (69") vs. Slingshot (78") front width, use of a production engine, are all great work by Vanderhall. Really great. But b) Lightweight boutique cars that use production engines (from heavier cars) need a tune for the new package and this is a known thing. TMI went on at length about all of the work required with Hondata to offer the tune that came with my Supercharged Ariel Atom 3, and it runs very, very well because of it. So, pre-arrival, I had the BNR tune in mind, but hoped it wasn't necessary. Then I got the Carmel, and the ECM death-grip on 6th, especially at light throttle settings going up hills (of which we have many here in CT) was beyond horrible. It felt like it was going to hurt itself seriously before it was broken in. Ordered the BNR tune before there were 75 miles on the odometer. Results: The only negative is that I would still like (a lot) less 6th gear death grip. On the light throttle settings/hills, the transmission still behaves like it would if there were a diesel in front of it. There are lower gears- use them, not boost! But the positives absolutely obliterate the negatives. It's an entirely different machine now. Intoxicating. A junior Ariel Atom. Recommendation: If you're on the fence, jump to the BNR side. Tune + handheld seems like a few bucks? Budget and procure. It's half the price of the Sales Tax on a Vanderhall in this State. A tremendous value. You couldn't spend the $ on anything else and get more, really. Sorry to "go long", but I hope this helps you take the plunge and enjoy where it takes you.
